Haiku & Haibun

At different times in my life, I’ve written three-line poems in a 5-7-5 syllable pattern. “A haiku!” you might say. Well—not exactly.

In 2023, I began studying with a professional haiku and haibun writer to deepen my understanding of the traditional Japanese form. I’m especially drawn to its attention to the natural world, its reliance on vivid, concrete imagery, and its invitation to slow down and truly inhabit each moment.

I now also lead haiku workshops, both in person and online.
